The Chassis

The chassis was built by John Thompson Motor Pressings in Bilston, the bodies were made in Lower Walsall and the final assembly took place in Graisely Hill.

Overhaul of Smith friction dampers.

I managed to get some "Mouldable" brake lining material. If you heat it to about 90c ( in front of my workshop gas stove), it is pliable. So I cut a length, heated it, put it around a 3" diameter piece of steel, jubilee clip tighten up, in front of fire for 10 minutes. Removing jubilee, perfect circular "Friction" ring held in place by a 1/8" ali rivet.
